ai search optimization audit
Find out how ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews talk about your business, who they recommend instead, and what's holding your site back in search. One audit covers AI visibility and technical SEO, and ends with a prioritized 90-day roadmap.

the details
More buyers now start their research by asking ChatGPT or Perplexity for a recommendation, and the answer usually names a few companies and leaves everyone else out. Most teams don't know whether they're in those answers, what AI tools say about them, or which competitors keep getting recommended instead.
Your usual SEO reports won't show it. You can rank well in Google and still be missing from AI answers, because AI tools also lean on review sites, listicles, Reddit and how clearly your own pages answer the questions buyers ask. And if there are technical problems underneath, like pages that can't be crawled or load slowly, they hold you back in both.
I start with the questions your buyers actually ask, from early research through to comparing vendors, and turn them into a set of prompts. I run those prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews and track how often you're mentioned, how you're described and who gets recommended instead.
Then I look at why. I check which of your pages get cited, which third-party sources AI tools rely on in your space, and where competitors are mentioned and you're not. I also run a full technical SEO review, because AI answers draw heavily on search indexes. That covers crawling and indexing, AI crawler access, site architecture, Core Web Vitals, schema and your analytics setup.
Everything comes together in one prioritized 90-day roadmap, so you know what to fix first, what to create and where you need to be mentioned off your own site. You can hand it to your team, or I can put it into action through content strategy and writing.
- Short interviews with your sales, support or product team, where possible
- Analytics and tracking review, including AI referral traffic, direct traffic and branded search growth
- A prompt library built from how your buyers actually search, using your sales calls, support tickets and Search Console data, grouped by buying stage
- Branded prompts tracked separately, so searches for your name don't inflate your visibility
- Your mention rate in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and AI Overviews, compared with 3 to 5 competitors
- How AI tools describe your business, covering accuracy and sentiment, including outdated or inaccurate details
- Which of your pages get cited, and which ones should be
- The third-party sources AI tools rely on in your space, and where competitors are mentioned and you're not
- Crawl, indexing and site architecture review, including AI crawler access
- AI bot crawl activity from your server logs, where you can share access
- Core Web Vitals and performance
- Schema, llms.txt and on-page structure
- Internal linking and content review: gaps, freshness and comparison pages
- A prioritized 90-day roadmap, ranked by effort and impact
- A walkthrough call with your team
The audit is a one-time fee of $2,000 USD. If you'd like help putting the roadmap into action, content strategy & writing picks up where the audit leaves off, and technical fixes are quoted separately.
what to expect
We agree on your competitors, markets and goals, and I get read-only access to your analytics and Search Console. Where possible, I also talk with your sales or support team about the questions buyers ask.
I build a prompt library around how your buyers search, run it across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and AI Overviews, and map the sources they cite in your space.
I review crawling, indexing, site architecture, Core Web Vitals, schema and tracking, plus how your content is structured for AI answers.
You get the report and a prioritized 90-day roadmap within 3 to 4 weeks of kickoff, and we go through it together on a call so your team knows what to do first.

is it a fit?
In-house marketing teams, agencies and business owners who want to know where they stand in Google and AI search before they invest in content or a redesign. It's especially useful if competitors keep coming up in AI answers, if traffic has dropped, if a migration is coming up, or if you're planning next quarter's content and want it aimed at the right questions. Agencies can get the report white-labeled for their clients.
It's probably not the right fit if you need ongoing tracking rather than a one-time baseline and plan, or if you already know what to fix and just need the work done. In that case, content strategy & writing is a better place to start.

common questions
How is this different from a technical SEO audit?
It includes one. The audit covers the technical side, like crawling, indexing, site speed, schema and tracking, and adds the AI side: how ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and AI Overviews talk about you, who they recommend instead and which sources they trust.
You get one roadmap that covers both, since problems in one usually affect the other.
Which AI tools do you check?
ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews, since that's where most buyers ask for recommendations right now. If your buyers lean on another tool, like Claude or Microsoft Copilot, I can add it.
What do you need from us for the audit?
A short kickoff call, the competitors you care about, and read-only access to Google Analytics, Search Console and Tag Manager. Access to your CMS helps me see how the site is set up behind the scenes, like templates, redirects and pages that aren't linked anywhere, which often explains issues the live site doesn't show.
If you can share hosting or cPanel access, I can pull your server logs myself. They show how often search engines and AI crawlers like GPTBot visit the site and which pages they skip, and pulling them directly lets me look at a longer stretch of activity than a one-off export.
Notes from sales or support calls are helpful too, since they show how your buyers describe their problems.
Will you implement the audit fixes, or just tell us what to do?
The audit gives you a prioritized 90-day roadmap, ranked by effort and impact, plus a walkthrough call, so your team can act on it right away.
If you'd like me to handle the work too, I can put it into action through content strategy and writing, and quote technical fixes and tracking setup separately.
Can agencies white-label the audit?
Yes. I can deliver the report under your agency's name and join the walkthrough call as part of your team, or stay behind the scenes. NDAs and non-solicits are welcome.
